This is the cover from Uniques #7: Barbecue. This issue,
and I switched roles, meaning she was the primary penciller and I did the cover.
Usually it's the other way around, but we swapped for #7-8 for two reasons: First and foremost, she's a great artist, these are her characters first, and we both thought it was important that she get to have as much of a mark on the drawing of the comic as me. Even though she got a little scared as it was getting started, I refused to let her back down and she did a BEAUTIFUL job. I'm so lucky to have married such a talented and fun girl, and to be able to make a comic we both love together.
The second reason for the switch is that I'm already starting layouts for issue 9, which is 56 pages and crazy-intense. Like, beyond ball-busting. It's going to be HARD and it's going to be GRUELING, but it's also gonna be frickin' AWESOME! So although Uniques #7 is a month late, we're doing all we can to get our schedule back in line and get #9 out in a timely fashion despite its overbloated page-count.
In case you didn't notice, this image is based on a Norman Rockwell painting entitled "Thanksgiving." It was Comfy's idea, and I ran with it. Enjoy!
