Finally got Uniques #9 done. It's a 53-page monster issue that we think of as the Season Finale for s.1 of The Uniques. It's an ongoing series (re: there will be tons more issues) but we think of it a lot like a television series in that there are definite series arcs along the way.

This page took some time. That central column with the people in the pods was a trick to light up properly. We knew we wanted to get that "all red" look for the room, but that required finding the perfect balance for the lights in the room to make them bright enough to glow but dull enough to still be so RED. Eventually Comfort just took the page back from me to do a pass on making things glow properly, and she nailed it really well so I just emulated the way she did it with the rest of the pages in this location.

All the hovering display monitors were part of my initial design, and weren't as tough to do as they look (once I figured out the trick ;) ).

We flipped the art chores again this issue, so I'm back to drawing the foregrounds, tech, and people while Comfort drew the backgrounds. Comf colored the foreground stuff and set up the lighting schemes while I colored the backgrounds and added textures. We split SFX pretty much 50/50.

I remember seeing this as all flats...dude, it looks so much COOLER!
The holo-panels look cool as always, and the red glow makes it look really omonious...

Thanks! This page was one of those weird things where you start the image with a very clear vision of what you want it to end up looking like, but along the way have to vastly rethink how you're doing it, and then in the end it somehow winds up being exactly what you wanted from the start.
