Teen Force 3

This is an original group of characters from the supporting cast of the comic I and my wife are developing - 'The Uniques.'

This team, the Teen Force 3, is really a joke. Even their names - Shardzz, Gravity Girl, and Energyze - are hysterically 90's-dumb. It’s the N’Sync of our world, and our core team spend a lot of time making jokes at their expense. But you know how, if you could put ego aside, get past the horribly over-managed image, and ignore all those small and large annoying aspects…those guys could really sing? That’s kind of what the TF3 are - a complete fabrication of a marketing division, but at the end of the day, they’re actually pretty dang good at what they do. It’s just hard to accept that in the face of all that glittery, pop-tarty schlock.

Besides, in the wake of a national tragedy like the one that opens our story, the country tends to want to snap back into something brainless and simple. We want to be able to laugh and smile and forget the horrible stuff, losing ourselves in something inane and obvious. That’s what these kids represent - the mindless fluff that we use to forget the harshness. They are the ‘American Idol’ of the Uniques world. If you took more than a second to think about it, you’d realize you’re watching bad teenaged karaoke, and there’s no reason to get worked up over something you could see at a local watering hole any Monday, Thursday, or Friday night…and yet, people eat it up. Silly - stupid, maybe - but there it is.
