Rainbow in the Dark - Raina

This is a promo image of a character from the upcoming comic mini-series by myself and entitled 'Rainbow in the Dark.' It's sort of a punk-rock fairy tale about rebellion, redemption, and what it means to be alive. Also: big cars, big guns, and big monsters!

Anyway, this is Raina, one of the big stars of the book. In the band, she's the loud-mouthed Han Solo character. Cocky, tough, sarcastic, and smexy. She also carries the biggest gun, though she is the smallest character. But is there anything better than tiny girls with humongous guns? Anime would tell you that there isn't.

Every one of our main cast members is based on a genre of music, and Raina is early 80's punk. She's like if Princess Jasmine (Aladdin) played bass for the Clash.

Subnote: Those fingernails come from my history. When my little sister and I were in high school, she used to have me paint stuff on her nails for her. So one time, she had them done with a base coat of yellow and I decided to draw little sumo-wrestler faces on them. It was hilarious, and she was walking around all day scrunching up her fingers and yelling "HOI!" I loved that little monkey-girl so much.

So, yeah, when putting Raina together, a lot of my costume and style design came from my little sister, Amy.
