When Comf and I were approached at C2E2 to do a sketch of Jon Snow & Ghost, I practically shoved her out of the way to take it myself. He's my favorite character in the Ice & Fire series (probably the same for 90% of all readers) and is just so damned bad-ass in the HBO show that I really wanted a crack at drawing him. And when I did... I kind of went above and beyond. Not that the commissioner minded, I guess.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and presume the reason most people for whom Jon is their favorite character feel that way because he's pretty much the only more-or-less morally pure, unambiguously good, NON a-holes in the series. There aren't a lot of people like that in the books, and pretty much all the others get killed. In a world where almost everyone is morally gray or a major dick to somebody somehow at some point, Jon is just a good person. That goes a LONG way in helping to get through some of the harder parts of the series.

I love Jon, but I am also a fan of Aryan and Sansa (thought I started out hating her); but I'm also only halfway through book three, so I dunno who all dies D:

I could never get behind Sansa. There were times I wanted to, but she was such a selfish little brat. They make her far more sympathetic in the show than she was in the books, I think. Arya, though, is a HUGE favorite of mine.

I know what you mean, if it was not for Sandor Clegan I would not like Sansa at all. Well maybe a little since I have a soft spot for people who're tortured. And omg I almost threw my kindle across my room when the books insinuated that Sandor killed Arya!!!
