Commission from NYCC 2015; Copic marker, ink, white paint pen, charcoal pencil.
This was a whole lot of fun. I really enjoy taking the Naruto cast and drawing them slightly more realistically; if I had free reign on this I probably would have modified his design a bit more, just in some small ways, to emphasize his character. I always saw Jiraiya as a sort of wandering vagabond/hobo guru. Like a homeless street-person version of Yoda. He's scruffy and skeezy and maybe a little creepy, until you get to know him and find out his genius and his heart.
Anyway, the commissioner of the piece was thinking of completing the three Sannin, and I really really hope I get to tackle Tsunade and Orochimaru in this same style.

Wow! All your art's amazing!
How do you use the charcoal in your art? Do you blend it in, or make the lines darker? Maybe I'm ignorant, but I haven't heard of using it with copics before. Though I assume it goes on after the markers, right?
