Published piece from Green Ronin's Mutants & Masterminds RPG supplement, Worlds of Freedom. Since the book is FINALLY out, I can show these pieces.

Worlds of Freedom is a collection of alternate and historical settings for the M&M 'Freedom City' campaign world. It's like an 'Infinite Earths' or 'Multiverse' idea, but also has historical eras for their core setting. That's where Comf and I come in. We were given the entire 'Freedom by Gaslight' chapter to illustrate!

Now, little did the M&M folks know, but steampunk victorian era stuff is among my very favorite. I ran a Ravenloft RPG campaign for around five years that was very gothic-victorian, so this project was right up my alley.

Here we find an intrepid group of explorers led by Adam Swift. This one was really fun, and playing with the color scheme was half of it. The description for the illustration called for them climbing old-timey castle stairs, and I thought immediately of using the dark spiral staircase lit only by torches. Gives it that eerie mood.

Add in a great collection of characters to draw, from the big bear of a guy in back to the little dwarfish fellow (the description said he was as ‘The Elder Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies as a midget dressed like Oscar Wilde), and you get a big bag of fun.
